Culinária Mexicana de Agave

I was staying at the hotel on business, so solo, I ate at the bar here and really enjoyed the interactions with the bartender, really nice guy. He knew a lot about their menu, how they make certain things, etc. I ordered a cheese queso appetizer, which came with awesome chips, but the cheese dip was really bland. I had shrimp tacos for my main course, and I thought they were very tasty.

Food was average. Frahitas were dry. Chimichanga was ok but cream sauce was a bit disappointing.

We wanted to like this place on property and tried dinner. Ordered the corn fitters; very undercooked and bland. Could not eat. Next was the Barbacoa beef tacos. All gristle and also bland. The margaritas were also the worst (not joking) we’ve ever had. Caution. Do not recommend.

Okay Mexican food, decent drinks - part of the all inclusive package here. Definitely better options in the surrounding areas.

Disappointing Experience – Overpriced and Not Family-Friendly We recently dined at Agave with our family of three and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. While we were looking forward to a nice dinner, we left feeling frustrated and overcharged. First, the kids’ meals were incredibly small. Our 7-year-old ordered the chicken quesadilla, which came as a tiny portion with a few French fries – an odd and mismatched side. He was still hungry, so we ordered the chicken tenders next. That dish came with only two very small tenders and again fries, despite us requesting rice instead. To our surprise, we were charged $8 for a small cup of rice, which felt excessive and unreasonable for a substitution. When our adult meals arrived, one of us had the fajitas, which came with only three tortillas. We asked for a few more and were charged another $8 for just three extra tortillas – something most restaurants would offer at no extra cost or at least a much more reasonable price. The margaritas were another disappointment. They tasted artificial, and the fruity one was undrinkable. Thankfully, the staff replaced it and did not charge us for it, which we appreciated. Overall, the food did not justify the high prices, and the experience felt like a series of unnecessary upcharges. We would not return and would caution others, especially families, to be aware before dining here.
