GAIA House of Grill is one of the signature restaurants at JOIA Aruba by Iberostar, and it sits right on the street-facing side of the resort, directly across from Eagle Beach. That location gives you the best of both worlds: you are steps from one of Aruba's most famous stretches of sand, but you are dining in a polished, grown-up setting rather than a casual beach shack.
This is a modern grill house built around fire and premium ingredients. The kitchen leans international, but the heart of the menu is grilled meats and seafood, with a few showpiece sharing plates that turn dinner into an occasion. It is one of those places where the room, the food, and the service all feel a notch more elevated than the average night out.
We usually point couples and anyone celebrating something special toward GAIA. It is designed to feel like a treat, and the atmosphere carries that through from the first drink at the bar to the last course.
Come hungry and order the platters to share. On weekends, stay for GAIA After Dark with cocktails and small bites from around 9 or 10 pm.

Richinell was outstanding and we would not have wanted to spend our first dinner celebrating our honeymoon any other way. The food was excellent and the menu had a wonderful variety of high, fresh quality!
We were guests of the Joia hotel and to celebrate my name day we booked a table at Gaia restaurant with the concierge desk, specifically asking for a table outside because I was sick and could not stay in the AC. - when we arrived, the restaurant said they don’t yet serve food on the terrace. I explained the situation and they eventually gave us a table outside. - it took 1h45m to get the main dish, although we had just one starter each and one main dish - the restaurant is not friendly with dietary restrictions. My husband is lactose intolerant and all the main dishes contain diary. The solution that the restaurant had was to completely eliminate the sauces and seasonings so my husband ended up with a blunt sea bass. They charge 60 usd for this so they could at least try to find a sauce without dairy for this price… - my main dish was steak with parmesan risotto and wok vegetables as sides. Instead, I received the steak with french fries and a salad - when asking the waiter how long it would take to get the right dishes because we’ve been waiting for 1h50m already, the answer was “I am doing my best here”. We felt like they were treating us very poorly just because we asked for a table outside. Furthermore, the concierge desk asked if we celebrate anything special and I mentioned that it was my name day. They manage to completely ruin our night. If this is how they treat guests on special occasions, I don’t want to know how it would be for a regular dinner. Leaving all bad experiences aside, the food was 4/5. Tasty, but not worth the price in my opinion.
Couples on a date night, anyone marking a romantic occasion or a birthday, and small groups of friends who want a special dinner rather than a quick bite. The chic room and elevated menu make it a natural fit for celebrations.
If you are looking for a cheap, casual, toes-in-the-sand meal, this is not that. GAIA sits on the higher-priced side and the setting is more polished than laid-back, so budget travelers and families after a relaxed, low-key dinner may prefer somewhere simpler.
Step inside and the room reads as chic and well designed, with very high ceilings that give it an airy, upscale feel. Seating is comfortable and varied: you can settle into regular chairs at a proper table or sink into more of a couch-style setup, and there is a good-looking bar area to start or end the evening. It looks considered and a little glamorous without tipping into stuffy.
If you would rather be outside, the front terrace faces the street with Eagle Beach just across the way, so you can catch the sea air while you eat.
If you have a celebration on the calendar or simply want one properly special dinner during your stay, GAIA House of Grill earns the spot. The fire-driven menu, the sharing plates, and the chic room across from Eagle Beach add up to an evening that feels like an event, not just a meal.
