Entry Requirements & Visas for Aruba
Planning a trip to Aruba is simple, but it’s important to understand the entry requirements that apply to your nationality. Whether you’re visiting for a holiday, business trip, or to see family, this guide helps you prepare for a smooth and stress-free arrival on the island.
Passport Requirements
All travelers must enter Aruba with a valid passport.
General guidelines:
- Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay
- Your passport should be in good condition and not damaged.
- You may be asked to show:
- A return or onward ticket
- Proof of accommodation
- Evidence of sufficient funds for your stay
It is recommended to carry printed confirmations or have digital documents saved offline to ensure a smooth arrival process.
The Online ED Card (Embarkation & Disembarkation Card)
The Online ED Card (Embarkation & Disembarkation Card) is a fully digital version of the paper form that was previously handed out to travelers arriving in Aruba.
All travelers, including visitors and residents, must complete the Online ED Card prior to traveling to Aruba. This includes infants and children and applies to travelers staying in Aruba for more than 24 hours.
Key points:
- Must be completed online before departure
- Required for all travelers arriving by air or sea
- Applies to adults, children, and infants
- Includes passport details, travel information, and address of stay
- Includes mandatory health-related questions
- Confirmation must be shown (digital or printed) upon airline check-in and/or gate prior to your flight as well as upon arrival at Aruba Immigration
Completing the Online ED Card in advance significantly speeds up immigration procedures.
See more detailed information on our dedicated Online ED Card page.
Do You Need a Visa for Aruba?
Many travelers can enter Aruba visa-free for short tourist stays. This includes passport holders from:
- The European Union
- The United States
- Canada
- The United Kingdom
- Several Latin American and Caribbean countries
Visa requirements are based on nationality, not country of residence.
Standard Permitted Stay
Most visa-exempt travelers may stay in Aruba:
- Up to 90 days within a 180-day period
Some nationalities, including Dutch and U.S. passport holders, may be eligible for extended stays of up to 180 days per calendar year, subject to approval by Aruban immigration authorities.
If Your Nationality Requires a Visa
Travelers who are not visa-exempt must apply for a Caribbean short-stay visa at a Dutch embassy or consulate prior to traveling. This visa allows entry to Aruba and other Dutch Caribbean territories.
Visa requirements and processing times vary by nationality, so it is strongly advised to apply well in advance.
Holders of Other Visas or Residence Permits
Travelers holding a valid multiple-entry visa or residence permit for:
- The Schengen Area
- The United States
- Canada
- The United Kingdom
…may be eligible to enter Aruba without applying for a separate Caribbean visa.
Eligibility depends on nationality and visa type, so travelers should always verify current requirements before departure.
Health & Vaccination Requirements
Aruba does not require routine vaccinations for most travelers. However, a yellow fever vaccination certificate is required if you are arriving from, or have recently transited through, a country with known yellow fever transmission.
Travelers are advised to check the latest international health recommendations before traveling.
Arrival in Aruba
Upon arrival at Queen Beatrix International Airport, immigration authorities may request:
- Your completed Online ED Card
- A return or onward ticket
- Proof of accommodation
- Evidence of sufficient funds
Most visitors experience a smooth and efficient arrival, especially when all documents are prepared and the Online ED Card is completed in advance.
