Delphi Watersports catamaran Dolphin off the coast of Aruba

Delphi Watersports

Delphi Watersports runs seven water activities on Palm Beach and Eagle Beach in Aruba, from a 15 minute tube ride to a private speedboat with your own captain.

Who they are

Delphi Watersports is a family business on Palm Beach in Noord, Aruba, started in 1992 by Robert and Grace Leeuwe after they moved to the island from the Netherlands. They began by renting out aqua scooters. In 1994 their first trimaran, the Starfish, went into the water, followed by speedboats and, in 2005, the Dolphin: the 45 foot catamaran that still runs their snorkel cruise and sunset cruise today.

They work from a hut on the sand in front of the Hyatt Regency. You check in at the hut, meet the crew who take you out and board straight from the beach. The one exception is the jet ski rental, which starts at Eagle Beach. Everything they offer happens on the water: catamaran cruises, tube and banana boat rides, jet ski rental, flyboarding and jetpacks, and private boat trips.

Across all seven activities, two things came back every time. The crew asks how you want it and sticks to it: easy if you say easy, rougher on the tube if you ask for it. And the instructors take their time with first timers. On the flyboard, Stephanie went from nervous to flying in about ten minutes.

Swim stop from the Delphi catamaran

Catamaran Dolphin Sunset Adventure Cruise incl. open bar

We joined Delphi's Catamaran Sunset Cruise, which stands out from most sunset cruises because it actually includes a swim stop instead of just sailing and vibing with drinks. It starts at 5pm, so the sun is still high enough for the water to look great at the first stop near Boca Catalina, where you can get in for a swim or just relax on the boat if you'd rather not. There's a rope swing and a water slide to use at the stop, and depending on the day you either board a dinghy out to the catamaran or it comes right up to the shore. Once the safety briefing is done, grab a spot on the trampoline nets, that's the best seat for the ride back when the sunset can be genuinely stunning. Open bar, snacks, music, and some dancing along the way. A nice way to start the evening either way.

Flyboard, Jetovator, Freedom Flyer & Jetpack

I tried the flyboard with Delphi Watersports and I'll admit I was nervous going in, having never done it before. My first few tries in the water were tricky, but the instructor was so experienced and gave such clear tips that I was basically flying within about ten minutes, which genuinely surprised me. Once you get the hang of it you can go surprisingly high, enough to give you a little rush of vertigo, and eventually try tricks like diving down into the water. It only runs for 30 minutes but that's plenty of time to properly enjoy it, and it really does feel like you're floating free above the water. My tip: trust the instructor, they know exactly how to get you up and flying fast even as a total beginner. Minimum age is 10, and it's just one of four water toys Delphi offers alongside jetpack, freedom flyer, and jetovator.

Private Boat Ride

Private Boat Ride

We chartered Delphi's private speedboat for a couple hours, and the best part is how customizable it is, you work with the captain on exactly where to go and what to see. It leaves right from the Delphi hut on the beach, and since it's a speedboat you can really open it up on the water, it gets a bit bumpy at higher speeds but that's part of the fun. The captain doubles as a guide too, sharing the history behind different spots along the coast as you pass them. We added an underwater scooter as an extra, which made for genuinely great snorkeling, and you're free to bring your own drinks and snacks on board. Our tip: ask the captain to stop at Boca Catalina or Arashi, the water there is stunning, whether you want to take photos, use the scooter, or just relax on the boat.

Catamaran Dolphin Snorkeling Adventure Cruise incl. open bar

Catamaran Dolphin Snorkeling Adventure Cruise incl. open bar

The Dolphin catamaran is a beautiful boat, and we made sure to grab a spot on the trampoline up front, which is actually my tip too: get there early, because lying out on the water while cruising is the best seat on board. We made two snorkel stops, at the Antilla shipwreck and at Boca Catalina, and I was struck by how well organized the fish feeding was, it was honestly impressive to see all those colors swimming around you. There was also a water slide and a rope swing to jump into the sea from the boat, which had everyone laughing. The crew kept a great vibe going and there was plenty of room on board, with some shade too for anyone who wanted a break from the sun. With the open bar, lunch, and tropical fruit included, the whole three hour trip felt relaxed and complete.

Waverunner Rental

Waverunner Rental

We rented a waverunner from Delphi Watersports at Eagle Beach, one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. This one is a rental rather than a guided tour, so after a quick instruction you're free to head out and explore on your own. It's suitable for any skill level, they walk you through everything if you've never ridden one before, and you can bring someone with you on the back as long as they're at least 10 years old, life jacket included. The standard ride is 30 minutes, with the option to add more time if you want. You do need to be 18 or older to drive it yourself. It's genuinely fun going fast and cutting circles in the water, and our favorite part was the view back at the hotel strip from out on the water.

Tube Ride

Tube Ride

We tried the tube ride at Delphi Watersports, and it's easily one of the more fun quick activities you can do with the family. There are all kinds of tube styles to pick from, single, twin, triple, kneeling or lying down, even a four person bandwagon, so everyone can choose how wild they want it. Delphi's crew is genuinely good at reading what you want, if you want to go easy they'll tone it down, and if you want it rough they'll happily throw you around a bit more. You get towed along the Palm Beach coastline, which is honestly a nice view on its own even before the actual thrill kicks in. It's only 15 minutes, but it's fifteen minutes of laughing and screaming. Our tip: leave your sunglasses on the boat, there's a good chance you'll end up in the water at some point.

Banana Boat Ride

Did the Delphi Banana Boat Ride, basically the same idea as their Tube Ride but on a banana boat instead, and it's just as fun. Quick tip: don't wear your sunglasses, they won't survive the ride. Like the Tube Ride, it's a fun, easy way to see Aruba's coastline from the water without much effort. Delphi Watersports is genuinely reliable too, they listen to what you want and make it work. Short, simple, and just a really good time.

Who Delphi is right for

Groups who want to do different things. One person flyboards, the others take the tube, and everyone meets back at the same hut.

First timers. On the flyboard and the jet ski they walk you through everything before you start, so no experience is needed.

Families. The tube ride is for all ages, so the youngest can join in. Older kids from 10 can try the flyboard or ride on the back of a jet ski with an adult.

Anyone who wants to plan their own day. On the private boat you choose the stops with the captain, and you can bring your own food and drinks.

Travelers who like a lively trip. The catamaran cruises come with music, an open bar and a crew that keeps the mood up. A good pick if you enjoy meeting other travelers on board.

Delphi Watersports FAQ

Where is Delphi Watersports in Aruba?
Delphi works from a hut on Palm Beach in Noord, on the sand behind the towel hut of the Hyatt Regency. The catamaran cruises leave from and return to this hut. The one exception is the jet ski rental, which starts at Eagle Beach.
Does Delphi Watersports offer hotel pick up?
Not for the catamaran cruises. You make your own way to the hut on Palm Beach, which is a short walk from most hotels on the strip.
What is the difference between the Delphi snorkel cruise and sunset cruise?
Both sail on the Dolphin catamaran with an open bar, music, a rope swing and a water slide. The snorkel cruise takes three hours, stops at the Antilla shipwreck and Boca Catalina, and includes a light lunch, tropical fruit and snorkel gear. The sunset cruise leaves at 5 pm, makes a swim stop at Boca Catalina and sails back as the sun goes down.
Do I need experience for flyboarding or a jet ski?
No. The instructors explain everything before you start. Our colleague had never flyboarded before and was flying after about ten minutes.
Can I book Delphi Watersports through My Aruba Guide?
Yes. All seven Delphi activities on this page can be booked through us, and our team has tested every one of them.
