Book an exit row or extra legroom seats. The row in front of the exit often doesn’t recline.
Pick a window in front of or behind the wing.
Skip the last rows and anything right next to the toilets.
Sit up front: on a short flight that’s 10 minutes sooner on the beach.
An aisle seat makes it easy to stretch your legs.
Book early, most planes are 3-3 so two people fit perfectly on one side with a window and a middle seat.
American Airlines from Miami
American flies Miami to Aruba twice a day. From October 2026 one flight uses the A321neo and the other the A321. In summer you often get a 737-800, which also flies the Charlotte route.

Couples, families and solo travelers
On a 3-3 plane, book the window and middle on one side. On Porter every row is 2-2, so you never sit next to a stranger.
Book seats ahead so you sit together. Kids can’t sit in exit rows. A bassinet is only on some aircraft, ask the airline.
Aisle if you like to stretch, window if you want to watch the island come into view.
On the way home you clear US customs and immigration in Aruba (US Preclearance), so plan extra time at the airport.
